About this role
Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management specializes in sophisticated wealth management plans for UHNWI and institutional clients such as family offices. The Managed Strategies team oversees discretionary investment solutions managing over $60bn of assets globally with a focus on equity strategies.
The Portfolio Manager / Trader will actively manage option overlay and quantitative equity strategies. This includes rigorous risk reviews, tactical adjustments, and decisive judgment in fast-paced market environments across index and single-stock option mandates.
You will collaborate daily with senior portfolio managers, internal teams including Compliance, Legal, Operations and Technology, and external brokers. The role requires synthesizing market intelligence while delivering clear updates on strategy performance and portfolio positioning to clients and stakeholders.
The position offers scope to drive strategy evolution, generate new ideas, and upgrade technological infrastructure. You will partner with Private Wealth Advisors to deepen client relationships and expand the discretionary offering.
Requirements
- Ideally 4–8 years of experience in sales or trading with an equity derivatives background
- Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of financial products and markets with strong preference for equities
- Advanced proficiency in Bloomberg and Microsoft Office with strong preference for good coding skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high calibre and focused work
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior portfolio managers to actively manage option portfolios including rigorous risk reviews and tactical adjustments
- Demonstrate sophisticated understanding of equity derivative markets and execution venues including OTC, Listed and Flex options
- Cultivate and manage external broker relationships to synthesize market intelligence and expand trading capabilities
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, Operations, Technology and Sales teams to drive platform development and strategic initiatives
- Deliver clear ongoing updates regarding strategy performance, portfolio positioning and investment recommendations
- Drive strategy evolution and idea generation to enhance the discretionary offering and streamline operational processes
