About this role
Do you enjoy using quantitative analysis to solve complex risk challenges and influence key commercial decisions? As a Model Risk Analyst at SmartestEnergy, you'll strengthen our risk framework by validating valuation models and developing innovative risk methodologies. You will provide analytical insight to measure, monitor, and manage risk across Trading and Origination portfolios.
Your responsibilities include designing and implementing risk methodologies for non-standard transactions and independently validating front office pricing and valuation models. You will also contribute to the governance of model validation policy and practices, and model market data for commodity risk factors.
You will support other Risk teams on all quantitative risk models and methods, as well as on small tactical programming tasks that enhance efficiency. The role offers exposure to a globally-minded team with offices in the UK, US, Spain, and Australia, with plans for further expansion.

Requirements
- Experience of quantitative risk management
- Energy or finance industry background required
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for risk model development
- Knowledge of valuation models and pricing for energy derivatives
- Understanding of model validation frameworks and governance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills specific to quantitative risk challenges
