About this role

The Corporate Banking Associate in UK TMT is an intermediate level professional responsible for providing bespoke capital structure expertise and corporate finance advice to clients. The Associate works with the Global Head of Telecommunications Corporate Banking and Senior Bankers across EMEA in business origination and execution across Citi’s product set. Focus is on episodic and strategic financing transactions to drive revenue by cross-selling the Citi platform.

Day-to-day responsibilities include relationship management of the UK TMT portfolio, providing analytical support, risk assessment, and monitoring of existing and new relationships. The role involves developing client pitch materials tailored to client needs, leading execution of episodic transactions, and fostering relationships across EMEA. Significant direct client engagement positions the Associate as a sector specialist.

The Associate gains exposure to multiple relationship teams throughout Citi and works closely with Investment Bank and product partners including Capital Markets, Markets, Treasury & Trade Solutions, and Corporate Finance. This includes deal teams for origination and execution involving clients across EMEA and APAC. Collaboration supports overall relationship management for UK/EMEA TMT clients.

Opportunities include becoming an expert in the TMT space with a global client set and delivery of market-leading industry content. Develop in-depth understanding of business dynamics, clients’ priorities for marketing opportunities, and strong internal relationships with product, risk, and regional partners. Champion Corporate Finance initiatives across the platform.

Requirements

  • Strong experience working in a corporate bank, financing, or capital markets/investment banking role
  • Prior experience in the TMT industry preferred
  • Corporate Finance mind-set with strong understanding of drivers of capital structure
  • Strong credit skills, credit background, and experience executing episodic transactions
  • Quantitative, Accounting, and Financial Modelling skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, notably Excel and PowerPoint
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written communication

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Senior Bankers to provide relationship management support for UK/EMEA TMT clients and industry expertise
  • Serve as member of deal team for origination and execution of episodic and Corporate Finance transactions across EMEA and APAC
  • Stay abreast of market and industry trends, best practices, and competitive landscape
  • Conduct risk assessment and credit analysis of existing relationships, including financial reviews, peer analysis, and projections
  • Develop client pitch materials tailored to client needs and lead execution of episodic transactions/financings
  • Assist with cash management activities, trading initiatives, foreign exchange, loan activity, and debt/equity capital markets
  • Evaluate public filings, research reports, operations, business plans, and financial forecasts for strategic analyses
