Working as a Summer Intern in Japanese Corporate Banking offers the possibility to observe and experience the whole business development process with Japanese customers located in the UK.

Your role actively supports relationship managers to manage a portfolio of corporate clients and drive business growth with guidance provided. Tasks include preparing business proposals and materials, performing credit analysis, handling operations, and coordinating with support functions like Operations and Credit division.

MUFG's Japanese corporate banking business holds a global leading position, offering comprehensive products from Corporate Finance and Structured Finance to Transaction Banking. The team interacts with Markets, Transaction Banking division, and other areas to respond to client requests and join internal meetings.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in finance, economics, business, or related field
  • Strong interest in commercial banking for Japanese clients
  • Analytical skills suitable for credit analysis and portfolio monitoring
  • Familiarity with corporate finance and transaction banking products
  • Ability to prepare business proposals and materials
  • Comfortable coordinating across divisions like operations and markets

Responsibilities

  • Observe and experience the whole business development process from client marketing to credit analysis
  • Prepare business proposals and materials, potentially attend client meetings with relationship managers
  • Perform regular credit analysis including creating credit applications and borrower ratings
  • Collect information to monitor credit portfolio
  • Handle operations while complying with internal procedures
  • Coordinate with relevant divisions such as Operations, Markets, Transaction Banking, and Credit to respond to client requests
  • Join internal meetings with support functions
