About this role

This London based role is part of the European Private Infrastructure Asset Management team. It is dedicated to delivering value from investments in companies and assets made on behalf of clients. The position sits within the broader infrastructure investment team at Partners Group.

Day-to-day work centres on onboarding newly acquired portfolio companies and refreshing strategic plans. The associate contributes to value creation opportunities and supports operational improvement or restructuring initiatives. Regular review of financial and operational performance ensures agreed goals are achieved.

The role requires close cooperation with investment teams, Operating Directors and portfolio company management. The associate supports due diligence on prospective investments with a focus on commercial and operational workstreams. Relationships are developed with underlying management teams and boards under senior guidance.

Opportunities exist to own non C-Level management relationships and act as a sparring partner on strategic workstreams. The associate helps shape asset management processes, tools and playbooks while performing reporting, monitoring and market research activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's and/or MBA is a plus; minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to understand a private equity underwriting and value creation plan including the P&L, CF and BS and translate into action items and KPIs
  • Exposure to or interest in transformation programs such as strategic planning and implementation support
  • Developing functional knowledge of operations and SG&A functions including operational excellence, cost saving and value creation programs
  • Strong analytical and financial skillset matched with a strong team mentality and desire to learn and succeed
  • Comfortable interacting with management teams outside-in and building credibility with senior stakeholders over time
  • Foundational understanding of integrated business planning, financing and valuation

Responsibilities

  • Work in close cooperation with investment teams, Operating Directors and portfolio company management to onboard newly acquired companies
  • Contribute to the definition and refresh of strategic plans and assist implementation of value creation opportunities
  • Support ongoing operational improvement, restructuring or re-engineering initiatives to maximise value creation
  • Own non C-Level management relationships and act as a sparring partner on strategic workstreams including business cases
  • Ensure ongoing operational focus by regularly reviewing financial and operational performance of portfolio companies
  • Support due diligence for prospective investments with focus on commercial and operational workstreams and the value creation plan
  • Contribute to continuous development of asset management processes, tools, best practices and playbooks
