About this role

In this role you will join the AllianzGI Direct Lending platform by strengthening our investment capabilities for the UK market. The platform, based in Munich, Paris, London, Singapore and Rotterdam, is composed of 33 investment professionals with approx. €10bn AUM. It invests in direct lending transactions in the European lower mid-market and mid-market, and manages specialized lending strategies across Emerging Markets and Asia.

The role involves supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of direct lending transactions primarily in the UK and, depending on business needs, in other European markets. You will originate and develop lending opportunities with sponsors and intermediaries while driving internal processes regarding execution of investments. Conduct in-depth due diligence across financial, operational, and legal aspects to provide adequate risk analysis.

Based in our London office, you will review financial models, prepare investment memorandums for the Investment Committee, and contribute to asset management alongside the team. Facilitate relationships with other teams including Impact Strategy, Risk management, Legal, Operations, and Compliance. Mentor Associates and Analysts while supporting cross-team projects within the broader private credit platform.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in private credit, leveraged finance, or related field, with a strong track record in credit underwriting and deal execution
  • Solid foundation in deal execution, credit analysis and stakeholder management, paired with strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of the characteristics and competitive landscape of the direct lending market in the UK
  • Proven experience in coordinating due diligence reviews, modelling, and negotiating legal documentation
  • High degree of ownership, ability, and willingness to go the additional mile to execute a transaction
  • Collaborative mindset within the Direct Lending team and with other teams including Sustainability/Impact and support functions
  • Interest in sustainability, transition financing, and impact-oriented credit strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with fluency in English

Responsibilities

  • Originate and develop lending opportunities with sponsors and intermediaries
  • Drive internal processes regarding execution of investments
  • Conduct in-depth due diligence across financial, operational, and legal aspects of prospective companies
  • Conduct market/industry research, compiling comparable transactions and precedent financings
  • Review financial models with the ability to project different scenarios
  • Prepare investment memorandum and presentation to the Investment Committee
  • Monitor assets together with the Asset Management team and contribute to reporting of existing investments
  • Contribute to quarterly investor reports, fundraising pitches, and support cross-team projects
