About this role

Ares Management Corporation is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Debt Capital Market team in London. This team is responsible for sourcing and executing debt financing for the firm's European real assets equity strategies.

The successful candidate will have proven commercial real estate debt experience and familiarity with secured loan and security finance documentation, interest rate hedging, and transactional banking matters. The role involves assisting with the origination of new loan facilities for equity strategies, proactively advising on loan performance issues, and identifying refinance opportunities.

Working with internal and external CRE debt stakeholders, the Senior Associate will act as a liaison between legal, valuers, property management companies, and lenders. The role also includes monitoring market developments and trends, analyzing their impact on bank facilities, and implementing facility-specific measures for critical loans.

This position offers exposure to projects aimed at improving ongoing loan and hedge reporting or transactional banking opportunities. Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in commercial real assets financing in Europe.
  • Expertise in debt due diligence and transaction management.
  • Experience in underwriting and/or managing performing and non-performing loans, with granular property knowledge.
  • Familiarity with LMA structured finance.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in MS suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as market research services.
  • Knowledge of European languages (German, Dutch, Italian, French, or other) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead originators throughout the new borrowing lifecycle in the delivery of RFPs, lender correspondence, modelling, facility agreement/security documentation negotiation, and drawdown process.
  • Maintain and provide advice and recommendations on issues relating to watch-listed and non-performing loans.
  • Conduct forward-looking monitoring and assessment of loan performance, comparing against underwriting standards and business plans.
  • Support lender credit function in providing information relating to any concession/waiver requests from the borrower, including advice and recommendations.
  • Act as liaison between internal and external parties including legal, valuers, property management companies, and lenders.
  • Monitor market developments and trends, providing analysis of impact on the bank's facilities and development of facility-specific measures in critical facilities.
  • Handle ad-hoc exposure to projects to improve ongoing loan and hedge reporting or transactional banking opportunities.
