Join the Octopus Ventures B2B software team in their next phase of growth. Focus on origination of new deal opportunities and assisting with execution of pre-series A to Series B investments. Support boards of portfolio companies as an observer to assist management teams with growth ambitions.

Build and maintain a deal origination network in adviser, VC, B2B software and AI sectors. Assist in execution of deals including evaluation, financial analysis, structuring and due diligence. Prepare investment papers and present to Investment Committee.

Octopus Ventures is one of the most active early-stage investors in the UK and Europe with more than £1.5bn in AUM. The B2B software team funds Pre Series A to Series B software and AI companies through rapid growth. Execute over ten new investments per year, typically £3m to £10m into UK and international businesses.

Gain direct access to boards of growing B2B tech companies through observer seats. Support fund management and fundraising activities. Portfolio includes companies like Lodgify, Definely and Vaultspeed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in an investing role (VC, growth capital, venture debt or private equity)
  • Transaction experience (banking or corporate finance)
  • Experience in financial analysis/modelling and commercial skills for assessing investment opportunities
  • Knowledge of B2B software and AI sectors
  • Ability to evaluate fast-growth software and AI businesses

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a deal origination network in the adviser/VC/B2B software and AI sectors
  • Assist in the execution of all aspects of a deal, including evaluation/filtering of opportunities, financial analysis, deal structuring and due diligence
  • Help prepare investment papers and present them to Investment Committee
  • Gain direct access to the boards of growing B2B tech companies through observer seats on portfolio companies
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis, portfolio monitoring, fundraising and support team initiatives
