The Audit Senior Manager – Conduct and Operational Risk is a key senior hire reporting to the Head of Internal Audit (SMF5). This role delivers high quality assurance and advisory work to support effective risk management and a strong control culture.

Lead the Conduct and Operational Risk Internal Audit team and relevant audit plan elements while developing strong cross-functional senior relationships. Provide independent risk-based assurance, advice, insight, and foresight to Senior Management and the Board Audit Committee. Help the Bank responsibly achieve its strategic objectives through objective challenge.

Actively shape the strategic direction of Internal Audit, evolving the function’s approach to reflect the Bank’s needs. Increase visibility and build credibility via a strong partnership model with senior management. Support the Head of Internal Audit in delivering strategic objectives for real impact.

Requirements

  • Senior audit professional experience in financial services
  • Expertise in conduct and operational risk auditing
  • Proven leadership of internal audit teams
  • Strong stakeholder management with senior business leaders
  • Knowledge of risk-based assurance and advisory in banking
  • Ability to challenge and support business on risk outcomes
  • Understanding of audit planning and risk universe development

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Conduct and Operational Risk Internal Audit team, including performance management, coaching and developing the team
  • Oversee quality delivery of the Conduct and Operational Risk elements of the audit plan, including review supervision, oversight and quality of audit reporting outputs
  • Provide support, steer, and challenge to the business on outcomes and actions arising from audit activities
  • Maintain and evolve the Audit risk universe, taking a lead role in audit planning processes to ensure a dynamic and relevant audit plan
  • Increase the function’s visibility and build credibility with the business by developing a strong partnership model across the Bank, leading relationships with senior management
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit in delivering against the strategic objectives of the audit function
  • Attend key governance forums
