Based in London, this Senior Compliance Officer role reports to the UK Compliance Manager & MLRO and supports the compliance function in the United Kingdom and Thunes activities worldwide where licenses and registrations are used. The role partners with the Global Compliance function including Financial Crime, KYC, and Risk teams. It also collaborates with cross-functional teams like Legal, Account Management, Finance & Treasury, and Product across the world.

Members of Thunes’ Direct Global Network include gig economy giants like Uber and Deliveroo, super-apps like Grab and WeChat, MTOs, fintechs, PSPs and banks. Thunes UK acts as a trusted, neutral aggregator offering end-to-end payments solutions for emerging markets and virtual world games. The position is office-based out of the Company’s offices in London.

It makes a real impact on the lives of people in developed and emerging markets alike. The ideal candidate has held senior payments’ compliance roles in similar organizations.

Requirements

  • Previously held senior payments’ compliance roles in Payment Services Providers (incl. MTOs, acquiring PSPs)
  • Experience in banks or financial institutions including traditional banks active in digital payments
  • Background in neo-banks (e.g. Monzo, Revolut)
  • Familiarity with BaaS actors (Banking as a Service like Cybrid, Plaid)
  • Knowledge of crypto assets actors (e.g. exchange, liquidity provider, blockchain infrastructure)
  • Expertise in assessing and mitigating financial crime risks
  • Understanding of AML/CTF risk-based approaches

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing the adequacy of Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), source of funds, client information, client profiling and suitability during the account opening process
  • Ensuring financial crime risks are assessed and mitigated, meeting all best practice, regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Provide guidance and support to senior management and the board regarding the firm's risk-based approach to AML/CTF
  • Support and manage client reviews to ensure ongoing compliance with AML/CTF standards
  • Partner with Global Compliance function including Financial Crime team, KYC team, and Risk team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Account Management & Business Development, Finance & Treasury, Product
  • Support Thunes activities worldwide where UK license and registrations are used
