About this role

The Public Sector Group manages senior relationships with public sector institutions including governments, central banks, international institutions, development banks, sovereign wealth funds and public pension funds. We build relationships with clients’ senior leadership including strategic decision makers, investment management, and risk management. We partner across Sales, Trading, and Corporate and Investment Banking businesses at J.P. Morgan to develop solutions that fit client needs.

As a Public Sector Analyst, you will be dedicated to the development and maintenance of public sector client relationships in EMEA and supporting the Development Finance & Advisory team. Assist the team in managing existing client relationships and developing new business and client strategies. Engage in discussions with sales, product teams and internal functions as required.

Develop broad subject matter expertise across lines of business about relevant clients through in-depth research on buying behaviours, drivers, business models, competitors, economic outlook and industry trends. Beyond direct coverage, track business performance, produce marketing tools and pitch books tailored to the segment, and build wallet analyses. Facilitate communication and share best practices across global coverage, sales and service teams.

Lead and participate in client meetings, presentations, seminars and training programs. Work is global in geography and firm-wide in products, with linkage to coverage, credit and risk teams. This role supports bankers in the EMEA region from London.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in markets sales, corporate finance, capital markets or development finance
  • A team player passionate about public sector institutions with high motivation to learn about and work with public sector clients
  • Ability to deliver concrete outcomes, overcome obstacles and drive items to completion
  • Proven quantitative, analytical and computer skills including PowerPoint and Excel based modelling
  • Attention to detail is paramount
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Bachelor's degree or higher with academic credentials in economics, international economic relations or public policy related subjects preferred
  • Fluency in European languages and proficiency with research tools including Bloomberg desirable

Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in managing existing client relationships and developing new business and client strategies
  • Engage in discussions with sales, product teams and internal functions at J.P. Morgan as required
  • Develop broad subject matter expertise across lines of business about relevant clients through in-depth research and understanding of buying behaviours, drivers, business models, competitors, economic outlook and industry developments
  • Assist with the preparation of pitch books and other marketing materials
  • Maintain internal reports including revenue decks and other analytical reporting
  • Prepare internal memos including those required at transaction approvals, client relationship overviews and briefing notes
  • Assist with the organization of client seminars and training sessions
