About this role

We are looking for an experienced banker based in London to help build and lead the EMEA GCB Mid Cap Sponsors Coverage team. As Managing Director/Executive Director, you will manage and develop relationships with private equity firms and financial sponsors focused on mid-sized companies. The role provides M&A advisory, leveraged finance, and capital markets solutions.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored financial solutions. Identify and originate new business opportunities with mid-cap sponsors while developing strategies to grow the bank's market share in this segment. Pitch for new engagements alongside investment banking coverage and product bankers.

Collaborate with the broader Sponsors team and J.P. Morgan partners to identify finance and risk management opportunities. Jointly with products partners, drive and coordinate tailored marketing of products to address client needs. Work in a cross-cultural environment fostering inter-department collaboration.

Requirements

  • Relevant years of experience in sponsors coverage banking
  • Strong understanding of financial products and services, including M&A, leveraged finance, and capital markets
  • Proven ability to develop client relationships, win new business, close transactions and build networks internally and externally
  • Solid in-depth knowledge of corporate banking products including bank loans, bonds, rates, FX, structured products, and cash management
  • Knowledge of Mid Cap Sponsors sector and existing clients and investor relationships
  • Strong influencing skills, team player with proven track record of managing cross-cultural environments and inter-department collaboration
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities that are team-oriented, fostering and collegial
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in presentations, expressing complex financial strategies

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with private equity firms and financial sponsors, serving as primary point of contact
  • Identify and originate new business opportunities with mid-cap sponsors
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the bank's presence and market share in the mid-cap sponsors segment
  • Work with investment banking coverage and product bankers to pitch for new engagements and develop client relationships
  • Work with the broader Sponsors team and J.P. Morgan partners to identify new finance and risk management opportunities
  • Jointly with products partners, drive and coordinate tailored marketing of products, addressing client needs
