About this role
The Fund Banking Executive Director manages and develops relationships with private equity, venture capital, real estate, credit, and other alternative asset managers as lead banker or supporting GCB teams. The role provides a comprehensive suite of financial products including fund finance solutions, payments, deposits, capital markets, and risk management at firm and fund levels. Ideal candidates have strong fund banking sector knowledge and proven track record in investment or corporate banking.
Day-to-day involves serving as relationship manager for regional and global investment fund clients, understanding needs and delivering tailored solutions. Support execution of fund finance transactions like subscription lines, NAV facilities, and management company lending, coordinating with credit, legal, and compliance. Lead credit risk processes and oversee client onboarding with business and credit presentations.
Work in partnership with GCB Country teams, FIG, Real Estate Industry teams, sponsor coverage, and product bankers. Collaborate with broader Fund coverage teams and J.P. Morgan partners to identify finance and risk management opportunities. Act as portfolio company champion to expand wallet share with sponsors and regional bankers.
Develop strategies to grow bank's presence and market share in fund banking. Drive tailored product marketing addressing client needs with product teams. Hold revenue responsibility for top-line growth and sound risk-return metrics while monitoring credit quality.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in fund banking, investment banking, or corporate banking, with a focus on investment funds
- Strong understanding of financial products and services, including fund finance, capital markets, risk management solutions
- Solid grasp of capital markets, including key instruments and market dynamics
- Experience in developing and implementing risk management solutions for diverse client profiles
- Familiarity with foreign exchange (FX) and structured products, including their application in client portfolios
- Proficiency in cash management solutions and optimizing liquidity for corporate clients
- Ability to analyze client needs and deliver customized financial solutions across multiple product areas
- Proven ability to develop client relationships, win new business, close transactions, and build networks
Responsibilities
- Serve as the relationship manager for regional and global investment fund clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored financial solutions
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with fund clients, identifying and originating new business opportunities
- Support the execution of fund finance transactions including subscription lines, NAV facilities, management company lending, and other bespoke solutions
- Develop and implement strategies to grow the bank’s presence and market share in the fund banking segment
- Collaborate with sponsor coverage and investment banking teams as well as product bankers to pitch for new engagements
- Work with the broader Fund coverage and product teams and partners across J.P. Morgan to identify new finance and risk management opportunities
- Lead credit risk and other internal approval processes for loans and counterparty exposures at the firm and fund levels
- Hold revenue responsibility for top-line growth and sound risk-return metrics
