About this role

BlackRock Capital Markets (BCM) is a centralized platform for the firm’s public capital markets activities. BCM partners with investment teams to enable performance through high quality sourcing of investment opportunities across the capital stack. The Debt Syndicate Associate in EMEA, based in London, will manage capital markets activity across public debt markets and report to the EMEA Head of DCM.

Daily responsibilities include building pipeline, disseminating new deal information, and coordinating with internal and external counterparties on live deals. Aggregate feedback from investment teams and engage with issuers and Investment Banks to negotiate optimal outcomes for participating BlackRock funds. Manage compliance and business reporting systems while tracking weekly, quarterly, and annual metrics.

BCM sits within BlackRock Global Markets and Index Investments (BGM), which brings together Index Investments, Cash Management, Global Trading, ETF Markets, Capital Markets, Securities Lending, and Financing & Financial Resource Management. This structure provides superior market access and index investment outcomes for clients. The role involves collaboration with key internal stakeholders and external counterparties.

Gain a broad skill toolkit through deep understanding of debt markets and operational structures. Develop efficiencies in processes with support from the team. Conduct fundamental company analysis to drive investment idea generation and evaluate unique opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience in Debt Capital Markets
  • Understanding of the financial services landscape
  • Natural curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive, fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work effectively with a team and within a larger organization
  • Proficient technology orientation (Strong Excel skills required; VBA, SQL, and Tableau a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily capital markets processes in debt, including building pipeline, disseminating new deal information, and coordinating with internal and external counterparties on live deals
  • Aggregate feedback from different investment teams and engage with issuers and Investment Banks to negotiate the best outcome for participating BlackRock funds
  • Learn and manage a variety of compliance and business reporting systems and processes
  • Track and prepare weekly, quarterly, and annual reporting metrics
  • Conduct fundamental company analysis to drive investment idea generation
  • Assist the team in evaluating unique investment opportunities
