About this role

ICG continues to grow its Real Estate business to c.$7 billion AUM, with intent to at least double in size over the next 5 years. The team of 55 people spans London, Paris, Singapore and Sydney. Krysto Nikolic leads as Global Head of Real Estate for a fully integrated equity strategy.

The Asset Management team manages all portfolio positions, including distressed ones, analysing individual investment performance to enhance risk/return outcomes. This role focuses on debt strategies needing close monitoring or with complex borrower issues. Identify loans falling behind business plan but meeting covenants for value-add upside at property or funding levels.

Report to Head of Asset Management, providing input on underlying transactions across Senior Debt, Partnership Capital, Residential Finance, Sale & Leaseback, and Real Estate Opportunities. Maintain high-level understanding of the wider loan portfolio to anticipate challenges. Contribute to new deals presented to investment committee and origination process.

Requirements

  • Broad understanding predominantly of the UK real estate market and Continental Europe real estate markets
  • Established track record of interacting and maintaining long-term industry relationships
  • Proven team player willing to input into origination process as required
  • Ability to analyse performance of individual investments and identify enhancement opportunities
  • High-level understanding of wider loan portfolio to anticipate challenges
  • Knowledge of real estate debt strategies including Senior Debt, Partnership Capital, Residential Finance
  • Real estate understanding to spot value-add upside at property and funding levels
  • Experience managing positions including distressed assets in real estate portfolios

Responsibilities

  • Attend investment committee meetings and quarterly fund reviews to identify loans for return-enhancing initiatives on secured properties
  • Conduct ongoing review of positions with regular discussions with sponsors/operating partners to progress complex business plans
  • Underwrite initiatives to enhance returns at property or funding levels
  • Discuss initiatives with sponsors on relevant deals
  • Support Head of Asset Management and Portfolio Manager in evaluating and implementing portfolio-level initiatives
  • Hold regular meetings with Portfolio Management on watchlist deals not performing in line with business plan
  • Provide analytical and real estate input to identify value-add opportunities on monitored transactions
  • Input into origination process with market knowledge and broad understanding of new deals
