The Executive Director plays an integral role in advancing CIBC Capital Markets’ lending strategy through active portfolio management within European and UK platforms. This involves liaising with relationship managers, credit risk management, senior management, and stakeholders to review, assess, and monitor the growing client book.

Build and manage relationships with clients, coach and develop the team, and work seamlessly with relationship managers in London and Luxembourg, plus the loan syndication team. Collaborate with product partners across the Capital Markets franchise to unlock ancillary business opportunities.

Develop a strong internal network and personal profile within the firm, including regular interactions with Executive Committee Members in Luxembourg. Ensure recommendations to clients comply with legislation, regulation, and the firm's risk appetite statement.

Requirements

  • Experience managing corporate banking portfolios in European or UK markets
  • Expertise in credit risk management and portfolio monitoring
  • Knowledge of project finance loans, amendments, waivers, and refinancing
  • Familiarity with loan syndication processes
  • Strong skills in client relationship building and stakeholder liaison
  • Ability to conduct high-quality credit analysis and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Experience supporting restructurings and deal executions
  • Understanding of industry, economic trends, and market intelligence in finance

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior member of the Corporate Banking team to manage and monitor the growing portfolio
  • Take ownership responsibility for accounts including detailed monitoring of project finance loans, review of amendments, waivers, consents, and refinancing transactions
  • Remain current on existing client base, industry trends, economic trends, and market intelligence
  • Ensure high quality of credit analysis, compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate legal documentation in conjunction with internal credit approvals for amendments
  • Represent firm interests externally and internally through restructurings
  • Respond to requests from internal and external Auditors and Bank Examiners
  • Track borrower reporting obligations and coordinate review of budgets, operational reports, financials, and risk ratings with Risk Management
