The Financial Conduct Authority regulates UK financial services firms to keep markets fair and effective. Join Supervision, Policy and Competition to protect consumers and shape finance. Market Interventions - Alternatives supervises alternative investments like private equity, real estate and infrastructure.
The team oversees over 100 bank-owned asset managers, standalone custody banks, depositaries and fund providers, including largest by AUM and G-SIBs. Develop assertive supervision strategies to mitigate risks, react to market events and prevent harm. Work is challenging, rewarding and impactful on competition and growth.
Analyse firms’ business models to identify risks of market and consumer harm. Support design and delivery of supervision using supervisory tools. Engage stakeholders to communicate expectations and encourage better conduct.
Contribute to thematic reviews and sector projects on priority risks. Collaborate with policy, enforcement and international regulators. Gain deep sector knowledge in evolving wholesale markets while shaping modernisation and resilience outcomes.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience of reviewing, investigating, and assessing information from various sources to make sound judgements
- Experience analysing financial firms' business models for risk identification
- Knowledge of custody banks, asset management and fund services operations
- Familiarity with alternative investments including private equity, real estate and infrastructure
- Understanding of supervisory tools and strategies in financial regulation
- Ability to assess market and consumer harm risks in wholesale markets
- Experience engaging stakeholders in regulatory contexts
Responsibilities
- Analyse firms’ business models and strategies to identify key risks of market and consumer harm
- Support the design and delivery of supervision strategies using a broad suite of supervisory tools
- Engage with diverse stakeholders to communicate expectations and gather market insights
- Contribute to thematic reviews and sector-wide projects addressing emerging risks
- Collaborate with internal groups across policy, authorisations and enforcement functions
- Build relationships with domestic and international regulators for cross-market coordination
- Develop deep sector knowledge through high-profile supervisory work
- Shape outcomes related to market modernisation, operational resilience and change management
Benefits
- Salary: London from £47,300 to £55,116 per annum based on skills and experience
