About this role
The Corporate Banking Associate within UK Consumer, Healthcare and Diversified Industrials (CHDI) is an intermediate level professional providing bespoke capital structure expertise and corporate finance advice to clients. The role involves working with Senior Bankers in business origination and execution across Citi’s product set. Focus is on episodic and strategic financing transactions to drive revenue by cross-selling the platform while managing risk.
Day-to-day responsibilities include developing client pitch materials tailored to needs, leading execution of episodic transactions and financings, and fostering relationships across the UK CHDI portfolio. Perform risk assessment, credit analysis, monitoring of financial results, peer analysis, and preparation of projections. Assist with cash management, trading, foreign exchange, loan activity, and debt/equity capital markets.
Manage relationships with the UK CHDI portfolio of largest UK Corporates, primarily FTSE 20 clients with global footprint. Gain exposure to multiple CHDI sub-sectors and work closely with Investment Bank partners including DCM, ECM, Leveraged Finance, Markets, and Treasury & Trade Solutions. Champion market-leading industry analytics and Corporate Finance initiatives.
Develop in-depth understanding of business dynamics and clients’ priorities to identify marketing opportunities. Build strong internal relationships with product, risk, and regional partners. Become an expert in the CHDI space through analytical support and portfolio monitoring.
Requirements
- Strong experience working in a corporate bank, financing or capital markets/investment banking role
- Corporate Finance mindset with strong understanding of drivers of capital structure
- Strong credit skills, credit background and experience executing episodic transactions
- Quantitative, Accounting and Financial Modelling skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, notably Excel and PowerPoint
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Accounting & Corporate Finance competencies
- Counterparty credit analysis and risk assessment
Responsibilities

- Stay abreast of market and industry trends, best practices, and competitive landscape
- Conduct risk assessment and credit analysis of existing relationships including financial reviews and projections
- Develop client pitch materials tailored to meet client needs
- Lead execution of episodic transactions and financings
- Assist with cash management activities, trading initiatives, foreign exchange, loan activity, debt and equity capital markets
- Evaluate public filings, research reports, business plans, and financial forecasts for strategic analyses
- Provide analytical support, risk assessment, and monitoring of portfolio relationships
