Senior Product Manager - Financial Crime (Fraud Prevention)

2w

Ebury

London, GB · Full-time · £90,000 – £120,000

About this role

Ebury is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead fraud prevention across our financial products. In this critical role, you will safeguard customers and assets by developing a comprehensive product strategy to combat evolving fraud threats. You will design and implement best-in-class, customer-centric fraud controls that stop fraud before money leaves.

Your day-to-day will involve conducting in-depth research on emerging fraud trends and attacker methodologies, balancing growth versus risk trade-offs. You will own fraud controls across transactional fraud, document fraud, and behavioural anomalies, detecting abnormal user behaviour across onboarding, authentication, and payment journeys. You will translate control gaps into a clear, actionable roadmap for fiat and crypto transactions, card spends, and internal processes.

You will work closely with Operations, Compliance, Engineering, Data Science, and Security teams to ensure controls are effective and aligned with company direction. Partnering with Data Science on predictive AI models and with Security on account compromise and abuse patterns will be key. This role reports to the Head of Financial Crime Intelligence Product.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on Ebury's security posture and drive innovation at the forefront of fraud prevention. The role is ideal for someone passionate about staying ahead of trends, adapting quickly to changing regulations and emerging fraud patterns. Ebury fosters an environment where everyone can feel they belong, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of fraud prevention in B2B and B2C financial products, including transactional fraud, document fraud, and behavioural anomalies.
  • Experience designing fraud controls across fiat, crypto, and card payment rails.
  • Ability to balance growth vs risk trade-offs and make data-driven product decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering with Operations, Compliance, Engineering, Data Science, and Security teams.
  • Understanding of predictive AI models for customer journeys and transactions (model inputs, outputs, and thresholds) — not expected to build models but to know how they behave in production.
  • Proven ability to translate regulatory and risk requirements into product requirements and deliver accordingly.
  • Experience with vendor integrations and event schemas in a fraud prevention context.
  • Passion for staying ahead of fraud trends, adapting quickly to changing regulations and emerging fraud patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of emerging fraud trends, attacker methodologies, and industry best practices in B2B & B2C fraud prevention.
  • Be proactive and unearth vulnerabilities to pinpoint where the fraudster might strike; balance growth vs risk trade-offs.
  • Formulate and drive a fraud-focused product strategy, ensuring alignment with overall Financial Crime Intelligence Product domain goals.
  • Own fraud controls across transactional fraud, document fraud, and behavioural anomalies.
  • Detect abnormal user behaviour across onboarding, authentication, and payment journeys.
  • Translate control gaps or breaches into a clear, actionable roadmap for fiat and crypto transactions, card spends, and internal processes.
  • Design real-time and pre-authorisation fraud controls to prevent losses before execution; define step-up, blocking, and friction strategies based on risk signals.
  • Translate regulatory and risk requirements into clear product requirements; work closely with Engineering on vendor integrations and event schemas.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working model: 4 days in the London office, 1 day working from home per week.
  • Opportunity to make a significant impact on security posture and drive innovation at the forefront of fraud prevention.
  • Collaborative environment where innovation, movement, and problem-solving are encouraged.
  • Supportive culture that values belonging, empowerment, and professional growth.
