About this role
Part of Apollo, ISGI is the dedicated investment office for Athora and asset manager for third-party insurance clients. Athora and other clients invest excess of €10bn into Return Seeking assets, comprised of private debt and equity originated by Apollo. The value-oriented strategy focuses on consistent outperformance and capital preservation across credit, real assets, and private equity.
The ISGI RS team supports clients in selecting investments, providing analytics, reporting, educational material, and ad-hoc assistance to defend decisions and allocations. This role stretches across all RS asset classes, with initial focus on private equity-like investments and essential involvement in credit over time. Core to enabling asset allocation that drives excess returns while managing economic drawdown and regulatory risk.
Daily tasks include preparing and presenting deal summaries, defending investment decisions, coordinating governance for approvals, and preparing materials for Solvency PPP implementation. Liaise with Apollo deal teams and support functions, while building client relationships and handling ad-hoc auditor or regulator interactions. Develop analytics to track capital activity, returns, forecasting, drawdown risk, and diversification for private investment portfolios.
Operate in a cross-functional, collaborative approach with the broader ISGI team, requiring a mindset of dedication to ever improve economics, insight, and service delivery. Constructive client relationships and professional handling of internal stakeholder needs are key. This position demands a self-starter willing to go the extra mile in a high-stakes insurance investment environment.
Requirements
- 3+ years relevant experience in investment functions within large insurance company, insurance asset management, investment bank insurance solutions, insurance consulting, or alternative asset management
- Previous experience with alternative investments or private investments essential
- Understanding of fixed income principles and capital markets
- Understanding of Solvency II regulation, particularly Standard Formula for private assets and Prudent Person Principle (PPP)
- Ability to defend investment proposals to clients with good presentation and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter with strong work ethic, willing to consistently go the extra mile
Responsibilities
- Stretch across all RS asset classes with focus on alternative investments, initially private equity-like then credit
- Prepare and present summaries of new Apollo-originated deals for internal stakeholders and clients
- Defend investment decisions, coordinate governance for approvals, and prepare materials for Solvency PPP framework
- Liaise with Apollo deal teams and support functions for originations and client needs
- Prepare, adjust investor reports and ad-hoc responses for internal management and external use
- Build constructive relationships with internal and external clients, support auditor and regulator interactions
- Apply and develop analytics to track capital activity, returns, forecasting, drawdown risk, and diversification
