About this role

This role strengthens the Financial Crime control framework, ensuring controls are effective, operating as intended, and aligned with regulatory expectations. As a subject matter expert, it partners with the wider business and external vendors to provide specialist advice, support training, capability-building, and oversee monitoring and escalation of potentially suspicious activity. It also ensures ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.

Lead and manage complex control projects across divisions, developing and implementing internal control frameworks including identification, design, implementation, and testing. Identify control gaps and recommend actions to strengthen effectiveness. Provide expert consultation on complex control-related issues, audits, and risk mitigation initiatives.

Produce management reporting and KPI-driven insights, maintain documentation of findings, lead investigations from exception reporting, and escalate issues. Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, sharing best practices and communicating effective control solutions. Provide education and influence around audit and control matters to promote awareness and compliance.

Keep up to date with risk and control trends across the industry and organisation, assessing applicability of emerging practices to improve operational resilience. Requirements

  • Significant experience in anti-money laundering (AML) controls, financial crime compliance, or internal controls management
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Com/BBA/LLB) in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or Law — or a Master’s degree/diploma in Compliance, Risk Management, or Finance
  • Professional certification such as ICA Advanced Certificate, CAMS, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Strong capabilities in risk analysis, financial crime risk assessment, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, reporting, and training delivery
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills

  • Act as subject-matter expert on complex control-related issues, offering analytical support and guidance
  • Provide advanced consulting to the business on internal and external audit activities and risk mitigation

  • Maintain documentation of findings, lead investigations from exception reporting, and escalate issues
  • Build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and share best practices
