The European Energy Transition & Natural Resources team works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment covering evolving Energy Transition sub-sectors and established corporate renewable, energy, and resources clients.

Play a leading role in primary transaction execution and support origination across European Energy, Energy Transition, Power & Utilities, and Natural Resources sectors. Ensure highest standards in client marketing, deal execution, account and client management, and day-to-day team functioning.

This role supports CIBC’s new Energy Transition & Sustainability franchise, aiming to deploy C$300Bn in sustainable financings by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. Financing spans project, corporate, acquisition across all capital structures with underwriting core to the offering.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ work experience across European Structured Finance
  • Focus on Energy, Power and Project Finance
  • Strong commitment to and level of knowledge in sustainability and transition
  • Experience across Energy (corporate and structured), Energy Transition (hydrogen, CCUS, e-mobility, biofuels, storage, nuclear)
  • Knowledge of Power & Utilities (Renewables) and Natural Resources (principally mining)
  • Familiarity with project finance, corporate or acquisition finance, greenfield or brownfield
  • Experience at all levels of capital structure (OpCo, MidCo, HoldCo)
  • Ability to underwrite

Responsibilities

  • Play a leading role in primary transaction execution across Energy Transition & Natural Resources sectors
  • Support wider origination activities of Head of Team, sourcing opportunities aligning with CIBC’s strategy and risk appetite
  • Support oversight of existing portfolio and relationship management with responsibility on selected accounts
  • Assist with timely reporting across business lines including sustainable finance
  • Ensure highest standards in client marketing, deal execution, account and client management
  • Act as senior team member participating in strategic initiatives to expand lending presence and develop new client relationships
  • Generate proposals utilizing CIBC Capital Markets products and services to meet client needs
  • Assess the lending market
