About this role

Vitol is a leader in the energy sector, trading 8 million barrels per day of crude oil and products with 250 ships transporting cargoes. The KYC Analyst joins the centralised Due Diligence team supporting all Vitol offices in delivering KYC policy and procedures. Reporting to the Senior KYC Analyst in London, the role focuses on North and South America.

Day-to-day involves performing tasks for on-boarding, regular and event-driven reviews of counterparts. Conduct Sanctions, PEP and Adverse Media screening per Vitol procedures and escalate as needed. Collect and verify information and documentation obtained.

Where deviations from KYC standards are justified, document rationale, risks and mitigating factors for approval. Manage caseload by tracking with business owners for timely completion. Liaise with business owners and management to clarify, investigate, escalate and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening procedures
  • Experience in KYC due diligence and counterpart reviews
  • Knowledge of compliance risks like trade sanctions, AML and bribery
  • Ability to identify and document regulatory risks across jurisdictions
  • Strong organisational skills for managing caseloads and tracking cases
  • Proficiency in verifying documentation and escalating issues

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned tasks as part of on-boarding, regular and event-driven review of counterparts
  • Conduct Sanctions, PEP and Adverse Media screening in accordance with Vitol procedures and escalate accordingly
  • Collect and verify information and documentation obtained
  • Document rationale for deviations from KYC standard documentation, stating identified risks and mitigating factors
  • Manage caseload and track with business owners to ensure cases complete in a timely manner
  • Liaise with business owners and management to clarify, investigate, escalate and resolve issues
  • Provide day-to-day support on compliance issues including KYC procedures
