About this role
At Octopus, join the recently launched Affordable Housing Fund as an Investment Associate, helping build the fund infrastructure from scratch. The mission is to provide genuinely affordable homes, with a long-term goal to create a £1bn fund delivering thousands of homes to those in need.
Work closely with the Head of Affordable Housing to establish best-in-class fund modelling and reporting infrastructure, leveraging experience to optimise tax-efficient structures. Lead fund-level modelling including post-deal oversight of investment models and returns, while supporting due diligence and deal execution.
Your immediate team includes the Head of Affordable Housing and an Investment Director, within the multi-disciplinary Octopus Real Estate team of over 90 people. Collaborate with wider ORE teams to enhance processes and promote strong exits.
This role will evolve with fund growth, offering career pathways across other Octopus Real Estate funds. Embrace a fast-paced, dynamic environment focused on transforming the affordable housing sector.
Requirements
- Experience of starting something from scratch
- Background in private equity, real estate investment banking, affordable housing investment, real estate corporate finance or accountancy firms
- Advanced Excel modelling skills with experience in operational or development models
- Excellent quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Drive to not just settle for how the industry is but how it could be
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Affordable Housing to establish best-in-class fund modelling and reporting infrastructure
- Optimise structures to be tax efficient, promoting exit/returned capital
- Lead on fund-level modelling, including post-deal oversight of investment models and returns
- Support wider due diligence and deal execution processes
- Deliver ongoing affordable housing sector and real estate market research, analysis and recommendations
