As an Associate in the Japanese Corporate Banking Department, you will support business development for Japanese corporate clients across the UK and EMEA, working in a front-office environment that values collaboration and innovation.

Day-to-day, you will manage administrative tasks essential for internal control requirements, such as updating credit conditions, conducting SOX testing, and self-inspections. You will also prepare and submit critical reports to Headquarters, including asset evaluations and VIE reporting, ensuring all deadlines are met with accuracy.

You will work closely with the Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA, contributing to strategy planning and ad-hoc projects that improve processes and operational efficiency across the region. The team prioritises customer-centric relationships and sustainable growth, offering a supportive environment for professional development.

Requirements

  • Japanese language proficiency at business level, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in corporate banking or financial services, ideally within a Japanese financial institution.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis, risk management, and internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple internal reporting deadlines.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and audit processes relevant to banking.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day administrative work for Japanese Corporate Banking Division internal control requirements, including pending controls, updating credit condition information in CIMS, SOX testing, and self-inspection.
  • Create, update, and submit internal reports to relevant divisions in Headquarters, such as Asset Evaluation and Assessment of Loans and Other Credits and VIE reporting, ensuring timely compliance.
  • Maintain and update the content in JCBD’s VIE Manual and Action Plan, liaising with stakeholders to satisfy reporting requirements.
  • Contribute actively to ad-hoc projects within JCBD to improve processes and operational efficiency for London and the broader region.
  • Assist in achieving the department’s profit targets by supporting business promotion activities and collaborating with product offices and MUFG affiliates.
  • Support the Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA in developing division-level strategy planning and executing account strategies.
