About this role

The Apex Group, established in 2003, is one of the world’s largest fund administration providers with over 13,000 employees across 112 offices worldwide. The AML Analyst supports Apex Unitas Limited’s Anti-Money Laundering framework through customer due diligence, ongoing monitoring, and client enquiries. This ensures compliance with UK regulations and global financial crime standards on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Conduct CDD and EDD for new and existing clients, verifying beneficial ownership and control structures. Screen for sanctions, PEPs, and adverse media while assessing Source of Funds and Source of Wealth. Monitor transaction activity and client mailbox daily for timely onboarding and issue resolution.

Respond promptly to client AML enquiries, clarifying documentation and regulatory requirements. Liaise with onboarding, client services, and fund administration teams to enhance client experience. Support clients through regulatory changes like updated beneficial ownership rules or new sanctions.

Collaborate with the financial crime team for consistent policy application and provide feedback to the MLRO on improvements. Participate in AML projects, system migrations, and compliance tool testing. Apex supercharges unique skills, offering freedom to disrupt and turn ideas into industry realities.

Requirements

  • Awareness of UK AML regulations, including CDD, EDD, screening sanctions, and beneficial ownership assessment
  • Experience in customer contact roles with ability to communicate professionally with clients
  • Ability to analyse ownership structures and identify ultimate beneficial owners
  • Proficiency in using AML/KYC platforms, screening tools, and workflow systems
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with clients and explaining requirements

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for new and existing clients
  • Verify client information, beneficial ownership, and control structures in line with UK AML regulations
  • Conduct screening for sanctions, PEPs, and adverse media, escalating results where appropriate
  • Assess Source of Funds (SoF) and Source of Wealth (SoW) with supporting evidence
  • Monitor transaction activity for unusual or suspicious patterns and escalate per procedure
  • Monitor client mailbox daily to onboard new investors and handle enquiries within set time periods
  • Respond promptly to client AML enquiries and liaise with internal teams to resolve issues
