Wise is a global technology company building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. As Financial Crime Compliance Lead you will support the UK MLRO in mitigating financial crime risks across the business. The role ensures effective oversight of the compliance framework covering AML, CTF, Sanctions, Fraud, KYC/CDD and EDD.

You will maintain the UK financial crime policy framework and perform horizon scanning for new regulations. Daily work includes preparing board reports, supervising management information, and leading root cause analysis of incidents. You will also provide assurance and challenge to first line teams on control effectiveness.

The position requires close collaboration with product development, first line teams and other stakeholders to embed controls from the outset. You will oversee CDD, transaction monitoring and screening processes while ensuring alignment with UK regulatory expectations. Deputising for the MLRO forms part of the remit when required.

Wise offers the opportunity to shape financial crime compliance for a fast-growing fintech with an expanding UK product range. The role supports design and delivery of targeted training for compliance and operational teams on AML, CTF and broader financial crime topics.

Requirements

  • Experience overseeing UK financial crime compliance frameworks including AML, CTF and Sanctions
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory requirements for e-money and investment products
  • Proven ability to prepare board-level compliance reports and management information
  • Experience conducting financial crime risk assessments and incident root cause analysis
  • Ability to provide effective challenge and assurance to first line control owners
  • Experience supporting product development with regulatory compliance advice

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee the UK financial crime policy framework ensuring alignment with AML, CTF, Sanctions, KYC/CDD and EDD regulations
  • Conduct horizon scanning for new financial crime regulations and oversee implementation of changes across business activities
  • Perform financial crime risk assessments for the full range of UK products including e-money and investments
  • Prepare quarterly compliance reports for the board highlighting key risks, metrics and incidents
  • Lead root cause analysis of financial crime incidents and ensure effective remediation plans are executed
  • Provide assurance and challenge to 1LoD teams on financial crime controls aligned with risk appetite and UK standards
  • Support product teams by advising on financial crime compliance for new features and embedding required controls
  • Support the design and delivery of training for compliance and operational teams on AML, CTF and broader financial crime topics
