About this role
The AML Analyst manages anti-money laundering processes, including client due diligence (CDD), AML risk assessments, KYC documentation collection, and client engagement letter reviews. This role involves research, risk-based analysis, decision-making, and documentation to ensure timely client and matter intake per regulatory requirements. The position supports the firm's AML function on risk issues.
Day-to-day duties include screening new clients and matters for politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions, negative news, and risk factors using Worldcheck, Lexis, GRID databases, and web research. Research and evidence ultimate beneficial ownership of corporate entities. Liaise with lawyers to complete risk assessments and collect KYC documents.
The AML Analyst works closely with AML and Compliance Counsel, Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)/Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), Money Laundering Compliance Officer (MLCO), and US-based General Counsel’s office. Collaborate with Intake and Conflicts Services team, lawyers, and secretaries for approvals and clearances. Coordinate with Trust Compliance Counsel on UK trust/client accounts.
Assist with AML training to embed compliance, practice-wide risk assessments, audits, and projects. Prepare for Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) visits and provide timely information for inquiries. Support ad hoc tasks like SRA compliance, regulatory projects, policy drafting, and reviewing outside counsel guidelines.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of the UK AML regime
- Ability to analyze due diligence results and effectively communicate and document potential risk issues
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to organize and produce detailed accurate work whilst managing a busy inbox
- Demonstrated ability to make risk-based judgment calls on a daily basis
- Familiarity with databases like Worldcheck, Lexis, GRID for sanctions and PEP screening
- Knowledge of KYC/CDD processes and regulatory compliance in legal practice
Responsibilities

- Assist with AML training, risk assessments, audits, SRA visits and ad hoc compliance tasks
