About this role

We're inviting you to build the future with us at the Financial Ombudsman Service, an independent not-for-profit organisation that resolves disputes between consumers and financial providers. As an IT Asset Management Apprentice, you'll support the development of our ITAM and CMDB capability, contributing to a robust and auditable asset management estate.

Your day-to-day will involve managing end-user assets like laptops and peripherals across their lifecycle, maintaining accurate asset and configuration item records in the CMDB, and supporting software licence record maintenance including entitlement and deployment. You'll also help ensure operational stability and governance across the wider service management ecosystem.

We offer hybrid working with at least four days in the office across a fortnight, combining the best of remote flexibility and collaborative office environment.

This is a fixed-term contract for 24 months to cover the apprenticeship, with a commitment to offer a suitable permanent position upon successful completion. You'll spend 20% of your time on off-the-job learning, including lectures and tutorials with your training provider, alongside extensive opportunities for personal and career development.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of IT hardware and software concepts
  • Willingness to undertake 20% off-the-job learning and complete an apprenticeship qualification
  • Ability to work with data and maintain configuration management records
  • Interest in IT asset management and configuration management (ITAM/CMDB)

Responsibilities

  • Support management of end-user assets (laptops, peripherals, accessories) across their lifecycle
  • Maintain accurate asset and configuration item (CI) records in the CMDB
  • Support software asset and licence record maintenance including entitlement and deployment
  • Assist in building a robust, accurate and auditable asset management estate covering end-user, software and infrastructure assets
  • Contribute to the wider CMDB ecosystem that underpins service management, operational stability and governance
  • Spend 20% of your time on off-the-job learning, including attending lectures and tutorials with your training provider
