The Legal Department at JPMorgan Chase manages legal and other risks, advises on products and services, and interprets laws and regulations that impact the firm. Our global team is made up of 2,000 lawyers and legal professionals with a reputation as thought leaders who deliver best-in-class services.
In this role, you will be responsible primarily for documenting, reviewing and executing EMEA debt capital markets transactions, including investment grade, high yield and emerging markets bond issues, hybrid capital, covered bonds, and liability management. You will closely work with the business teams, risk and control areas, and Legal colleagues globally.
Based in London, the Capital Markets Practice Group for Europe, Middle East and Africa handles a broad portfolio of capital markets matters through a team located in London and Mumbai. As a trusted advisor, you will help safeguard the integrity of the firm while doing cutting-edge work in a first-in-class financial institution.

Requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and execution skills, and results-driven
- Ability to think laterally to identify and assess wider risks for the Firm, and to proactively work with the business and other control functions to find solutions
- Ability to cope with a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player, proactively and multi-task
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Keen interest in transactional, legal regulatory work
- Must be able to demonstrate solid debt capital markets experience at a law firm or an in-house legal team at an investment bank
- Lawyer must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with in-house counsel registration rules
Responsibilities
- Pro-actively support business groups across EMEA and other offices globally which originate transactions, through structuring and execution of transactions including review and negotiation of legal documents
- Provide legal advice and guidance on risk assessment and solutions
- Liaise with business teams, control areas, and Legal colleagues in setting and maintaining documentation standards, internal policies, and practice guidelines
- Monitor relevant legal, regulatory, and documentation developments
- Pro-actively share experience and know-how with colleagues in Legal globally
- Provide training to the business and within Legal
- Participate in Legal and firm-wide projects
