The role supports the firm’s two Assistant General Counsel and Director of Risk and Compliance for Europe and Asia with a wide variety of projects. Assist in the provision of risk related advice and the management of compliance matters across European and Asian offices in London, Cambridge, Paris, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Hong Kong and Singapore. Requirements
- Qualified lawyer, minimum 3 years PQE
- Background working in a large City or International firm
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with tact and diplomacy
- Good understanding (or ability to gain an understanding quickly) of the legal and regulatory regimes relevant to the firm’s European and Asian offices, the types of work undertaken by the firm, and the various support functions
- Previous risk and compliance experience would be an advantage, but is not essential
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to partners, associates and the global operations team on legal and regulatory risk issues, including engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, conflicts, confidential information, anti-money laundering, prevention of tax evasion, market abuse, disclosure regimes, and data privacy
- Produce and/or update written policies and guidance
- Manage SRA records (including the bulk renewal application), risk registers, and general corporate records for the firm’s various legal entities in Europe and Asia
- Review contracts
- Identify new or changing legal and regulatory issues affecting the firm
- Assist with ongoing projects, including those on GDPR and DAC6
- Develop and deliver risk and compliance training
