About this role

The Head of ETF Capital Markets Solutions leads all primary and secondary market activities across State Street Investment Management’s European ETF platform. The role holds end-to-end accountability for liquidity outcomes, market quality, and trading efficiency at the center of the ETF franchise.

Day-to-day work involves overseeing secondary market quality metrics such as spreads, depth, and execution consistency while managing primary market activity including creations, redemptions, and AP engagement. The position also advances the ETF-as-a-Service offering by advising external clients on go-to-market strategy and onboarding.

Cross-functional partnership occurs daily with Product, Investments, Funds Management, Trading, Legal, and Operations teams to improve outcomes. Senior relationships are maintained with market makers, authorized participants, exchanges, and liquidity providers across Europe.

The role strengthens the firm’s competitive positioning by driving automation, data-driven diagnostics, and scalable market oversight. It directly supports expansion of the European ETF platform and client ETF launches through structured capital markets support.

Requirements

Expertise in ETF primary and secondary market mechanics and liquidity management
Proven ability to manage relationships with market makers, authorized participants, and exchanges
Strong understanding of ETF market structure, arbitrage mechanics, and premium/discount behavior
Experience designing and optimizing contractual market making programs
Capability to deliver data-driven market diagnostics and stakeholder reporting
Cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Investments, Trading, and Operations teams

Responsibilities

Own and lead secondary market quality across ETFs including spreads, depth, and execution consistency relative to peers
Oversee primary market activity including creations/redemptions, basket construction, and AP engagement
Build and maintain senior relationships with market makers, APs, exchanges, and liquidity providers
Develop a Contractual Market Making strategy that improves market quality and sales effectiveness
Drive automation and scalability of ETF markets oversight through data and technology initiatives
Lead capital markets support for external ETF clients including exchange listing strategy and AP onboarding
Guide clients on ETF market structure, primary market design, basket strategy, and trading considerations
