About this role

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Skills L&D Manager to join on a 12 month FTC and lead the development of functional and technical capability across our motor insurance business, with focus on operational teams. This key role shapes and delivers impactful learning experiences that build confidence, capability, and performance in frontline and business-critical roles. You’ll take ownership of our technical skills development strategy.

Work with leaders and People Partners to identify learning needs across Operations, Customer Experience, Claims, and other key functions. Design and deliver learning solutions from onboarding through to role-specific upskilling that support people to do their best work every day. Partner with subject matter experts and external providers to create accessible, practical learning.

Collaborate closely with department leads, team managers, and the broader People team to embed learning into how we develop, support, and measure performance. Build trusted relationships across key business functions like Operations, Claims and Fraud. Operate within a culture of progress, collaboration across tribes like Acquisition, Retention & Claims.

Requirements

  • Experience leading technical skills development in operational insurance environments
  • Knowledge of motor insurance workflows including claims, fraud, and regulatory processes
  • Ability to conduct capability gap analyses for complex operational processes
  • Proven track record designing scalable learning strategies for frontline teams
  • Skills in partnering with SMEs and external providers for technical training
  • Understanding of system navigation, technical debt handling, and insurance operations
  • Experience shaping learning for Operations, Customer Experience, and Claims functions

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with leaders across Operations, Claims and Fraud to understand technical workflows and identify skill gaps
  • Conduct technical capability gap analyses with department leads to pinpoint support needs in operational insurance processes
  • Design and implement a scalable technical skills strategy supporting functional excellence and career progression
  • Develop capability frameworks for technical skills across motor insurance functions
  • Take ownership of technical skills development strategy working with leaders and People Partners
  • Design and deliver learning solutions from onboarding to role-specific upskilling for operational teams
  • Partner with subject matter experts and external providers to create practical learning content
  • Embed learning into performance development, support, and measurement with department leads
