Corporate Banking Department (London) serves as a front office function responsible for business development of customers in the United Kingdom and demarcated EMEA countries whose ultimate parents are Japanese corporates.

The role focuses on achieving assigned BSC profit targets by offering MUFG products and services through collaboration with Primary Offices. It includes discovering future profit opportunities and monetizing them with Product Offices’ support while maximizing profit through close communications with MUFG affiliates.

Strategy planning involves building short-term and mid-long term account strategies for customers and supporting the Head of Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA. Customer centric activities focus on improving the department’s customer base and contributing to MUFG-wide business expansion.

Credit control requires creating high-level credit and borrower rating applications through prudent analysis. The position also leads in building an adequate Risk Ownership framework and follows all compliance related rules while contributing to profit increases at other MUFG offices.

Requirements

  • Japanese language proficiency required for client and affiliate communications
  • Experience in corporate banking or financial services front office functions
  • Strong credit analysis and borrower rating application skills
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks including SOX testing and self-inspection
  • Ability to prepare and submit regulatory and management reports to Head Office
  • Understanding of risk ownership and compliance requirements in banking

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day administrative work associated with internal control requirements including pending controls, CIMS updates, SOX testing and self-inspection
  • Contribute actively to ad-hoc projects within JCBD to improve processes and operational efficiency for London and the region
  • Create, update and submit internal reports to relevant divisions in Head Office such as Asset Evaluation and VIE reporting in a timely manner
  • Maintain and update the content in JCBD’s VIE Manual and Action Plan to ensure compliance with internal procedures
  • Achieve BSC profit targets by offering MUFG products and services through collaboration with Primary Offices and affiliates
  • Build short-term and mid-long term account strategies on customers and support Division’s strategy planning
  • Create high-level credit and borrower rating applications through prudent and accurate credit analysis
  • Lead the Department in building up adequate Risk Ownership framework while following compliance rules
